Wildlife Populations and Habitat Dynamics Department

The department is responsible for coordinating and undertaking wildlife research and monitoring on wildlife species populations and habitat dynamics to generate information needed to guide decisions and policy-making on wildlife conservation and management in Kenya. This entails coordination and undertaking species-specific research and provision of technical advice to the field centres on specific species to guide their conservation and management. It also includes coordination and conducting all National wildlife censuses, monitoring and assessments including mapping and modelling of alien/invasive species, remote sensing and development of species-specific databases in conservation areas of Kenya.
