Senior management sign Performance Contracts (FY 2024/2025)

On January 20, 2025, the Institute took a significant step towards reinforcing efficiency in service delivery as the Board Chair, Dr. David Nkedianye, and the Director, Dr. Patrick Omondi, presided over the signing of Performance Contracts for the Financial Year 2024/2025 with senior management.

This exercise underscores the Institute’s commitment to fostering transparency, upholding accountability, and driving institutional efficiency.

By formalizing performance expectations, the contracts serve as a vital mechanism for evaluating the effectiveness of public service delivery within the Institute.

During his address, Dr. Nkedianye emphasized the strategic importance of performance contracting as a tool for enhancing productivity and ensuring that public institutions deliver tangible results.

He highlighted that the FY 2024/2025 Performance Contract aligns seamlessly with the Institute’s Strategic Plan 2023-2027, Annual Work Plan, and Budget. Additionally, it adheres to the 21st Cycle Performance Contracting (PC) Guidelines and supports the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Dr. Nkedianye urged the senior management team to adopt a transformative approach centered on teamwork, self-drive, and accountability to cultivate a high-performance organizational culture. He further reiterated the importance of aligning institutional objectives with national priorities to ensure sustainable and impactful conservation efforts.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Nkedianye expressed gratitude to the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Hon. Rebecca Miano, and the Principal Secretary, State Department for Wildlife, Hon. Silvia Museiya, for their unwavering support of the Institute’s initiatives. Their leadership and commitment continue to play a pivotal role in strengthening the Institute’s research and conservation mandate.

Dr. Patrick Omondi reaffirmed his dedication to providing strategic oversight and guidance to ensure the Institute effectively executes its mandate.

He assured the senior management team of his support in fostering a results-driven culture that upholds the Institute’s vision for wildlife conservation and management.

As the Institute embarks on the implementation of the FY 2024/2025 Performance Contract, the emphasis remains on delivering excellence, enhancing wildlife research and training, and strengthening institutional capacity.
