On June 24th, 2025, the Institute’s senior management team kicked off a two-day dynamic leadership training course at the KCB Leadership Center in Nairobi.
Facilitated by Power House Consulting Firm, the program is designed to equip leaders with essential competencies such as emotional intelligence, effective communication, team development, and strategic decision-making—critical skills for guiding teams in an ever-changing work environment.
Officially opening the training, the Institute’s Director, Dr. Patrick Omondi, underscored the importance of continuous leadership development in achieving the Institute’s strategic mandate. He noted that the training represents more than just another leadership activity, describing it as a demonstration of the Board’s deep commitment to driving a fundamental shift in staff culture, work ethic, and day-to-day operations.
Dr. Omondi reminded the participants of their high calling as leaders, entrusted with advancing the vision, mission, and objectives of the Institute.
He stressed that senior managers must continually sharpen their ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and lead with empathy and integrity. The capacity to deliver results, foster cohesive teams, and inspire innovation, he added, depends on embracing modern leadership practices.
The facilitators from Power House Consulting echoed these sentiments, highlighting that leadership in public sector institutions—particularly in research and training—demands a forward-looking mindset, agility, and strong interpersonal skills.
In attendance from Power House Consulting were CEO Chris Chepkoit, Consultant Trainer Dr. Weldon Ngeno, Revenue and Marketing Lead Antony Mwaura, and Business Development and Training Officer Edwin Sichangi.
The training reflects the Institute’s ongoing commitment to empowering its leadership to inspire teams, foster innovation, and drive sustainable impact in wildlife conservation, research, and training.
